Corfe Castle stands in commanding isolation above the Isle of Purbeck, its broken walls rising from a chalk ridge that overlooks sea and countryside alike. Once a royal fortress and later a Civil War stronghold, it now endures as a dramatic silhouette against open Dorset skies.
This composition captures the castle at sunset, when long streaks of cloud sweep across a glowing horizon and the ruins take on quiet authority. The slope of the hillside draws the eye upward to the fractured towers, while distant sea light softens the edge of the land. The piece evokes Corfe at its most elemental — exposed, resilient and suspended between sky and earth.

Choose Your Finish
For a contemporary look, choose our Modern finish, produced on 230gsm smooth matte paper for crisp detail and refined colour.
For a classic look, choose our Vintage finish, carefully aged and printed on a traditionally made 310gsm matte etching paper from German paper experts Hahnemühle. Its subtle texture enhances depth and lends the artwork the presence of an original railway poster.
Both are available in six frame options.
Framed & Ready to Hang
Each piece is professionally framed to order and delivered ready to hang — typically within one week.

Yes quality picture. The castle isn’t as big as I remember it to be in September but I’m sure my husband will love it anyway.
Hi there!
Many thanks for ordering from us and for leaving a 5* review too! We were also at Corfe Castle in mid September. I wonder if we passed each other! Fom memory, this image is from the west of the castle. It does look especially big from the east!
