Jump aboard a Scenic Railways train and relive time spent exploring a UNESCO World Heritage Site, stretching 73 miles across northern England, from the River Tyne in the east to the Solway Firth in the west.
Built by the Romans around AD 122, Hadrian's Wall served as a powerful frontier, controlling movement and protecting the northern edge of the Roman Empire. Today, visitors can walk along its scenic trails, explore ancient forts and experience the rich history embedded in the rugged landscape.
One of the most picturesque and beloved spots along the wall is Sycamore Gap, where a lone sycamore tree once stood in a natural dip between two hills. This iconic location, featured in the film Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, draws countless visitors and photographers.
Although the tree was sadly felled in 2023, the site remains a poignant and popular stop along the Hadrian’s Wall Path, offering breathtaking views and a deep sense of connection to both history and nature.
